A major Tier 1 automotive supplier has achieved a 60% reduction in 3D printing times as an early adopter of the Ulendo VC (Vibration Compensation) software upgrade for the CreatBot F430 extrusion-based printer. The company printed 9 prototype seating brackets on a single build plate. This build would have normally taken 14 hours and 30 minutes at stock settings but, with the Ulendo VC software upgrade, the print job was completed in 6 hours and 15 minutes without sacrificing build quality. The print was performed at a speed of 150mm/sec with acceleration of 3,000/sec2, a 3X and 5X improvement over stock settings, respectively.
The supplier, who remains anonymous due to the nature of their R&D work, routinely uses extrusion-based 3D printing in its design and prototyping process for seating and electrical components.

“Many of the prototype parts this client builds are quite large and can take 14 to 24 hours to produce. This makes it difficult to fit into working schedules and can lead to longer than ideal development timelines,” says Brenda Jones, Ulendo’s CEO. “Quick turnaround and rapid iteration are essential for their operations.”
Ulendo VC is a unique software solution that enables faster print speeds without any loss in quality by canceling out vibration in FDM printers. Vibration has long plagued FDM printers, limiting speed and build quality. Furthermore, vibration-driven quality issues such as “ghosting,” “ringing” and “layer shifting” are amplified on large industrial FDM printers, significantly limiting their performance. While previously available solutions such as “input shaping” may be sufficient for hobbyist desktop printers, they cannot solve the challenges faced by professional users operating industrial FDM printers at high speed. Ulendo VC solves this challenge through a unique, patented software algorithm that counteracts vibration in real time, leading to significantly higher speeds and high-quality results on every build.
“By taking a 14:30 build and knocking it down to 6:15, the client is now able to do their build prep and get the part out on the same day,” added Jones. “It really transforms how they are able to use additive in their R&D process.”
Ulendo has partnered with Rev1 Technologies, the exclusive after-sales support provider for CreatBot printers in the U.S., to develop and distribute the software upgrade for the F430 model. In initial tests, Ulendo VC has been able to generate a 5X improvement in speed and acceleration on the F430, reaching speeds of 250mm/sec and acceleration of 3,000mm/sec2 without any ringing, ghosting, or corner rounding.
“As a software only solution, Ulendo VC is incredibly easy for our customers to adopt,” says Ben Hartwig, President of Rev1 Technologies. “For customers in contract manufacturing or using additive in production, this dramatically improves the efficiency and overall profitability of their additive operations.”
Rev1 and Ulendo are currently working on software upgrades for even larger format CreatBot machines. Customers interested in adding this upgrade kit to their CreatBot printers should contact Rev1 or visit the Rev1 team at Booth 3510 at North America’s largest additive and industrial 3D printing event, the RAPID + TCT Tradeshow in Detroit, Michigan April 8-10, 2025.
ABOUT ULENDO TECHNOLOGIES, INC.
Ulendo Technologies is a software company focused on solving the challenges facing adoption and scale of advanced manufacturing (AM) processes, making AM machines faster, higher quality, and more repeatable. Founded in 2018 by Chinedum ‘Chi’ Okwudire, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan, the company is composed of engineering, software development, and advanced manufacturing experts dedicated to making cutting-edge solutions practical for our clients.
The company’s first products improved the speed and quality of extrusion-based 3D printers: Ulendo VC (Vibration Compensation), an advanced set of algorithms that doubles printing speed without degrading the quality and Ulendo Calibration-as-a-ServiceTM, a cloud-based auto calibration tool.
With the introduction of Ulendo HC (heat compensation), the company has expanded into the growing metal 3D printing market. The company’s overall goal is to deliver a collection of revolutionary software products to the advanced manufacturing industry (i.e., 3D printers, industrial robots).
