Ulendo Selected as Finalist in the 2023 SME Additive Manufacturing Pitchfest Competition

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN, UNITED STATES, April 20, 2023 – Ulendo has been selected as a finalist for the  Additive Manufacturing Pitchfest to be held in during the May 2-4, 2023 RAPID + TCT Conference.  RAPID + TCT is North America’s largest and most influential Additive Manufacturing event.  In this inaugural competition powered by SME, entrepreneurs, start-ups and academic spin-offs with emerging technology, products and applications will showcase the latest in additive manufacturing (AM) technology and innovation to a panel of industry leaders, media and the AM community.

“Ulendo’s selection as an AM Pitchfest finalist is yet another validation point for the technical strength of Ulendo VC, our vibration compensation software, and its positive impact on the speed and quality of extrusion-based 3D printers,” said Brenda Jones, CEO of Ulendo.

Other recent points of validation for Ulendo’s technology have come in the form of a $1M grant from the NSF and selection as a finalist for a 2023 TCT Award to be awarded at the TCT 360 Conference this June.

Although its presentation at the AM Pitchfest at RAPID + TCT will focus on Ulendo VC, the company’s product pipeline includes other revolutionary software solutions including Ulendo HC (heat compensation) that reduces distortion in metal printing, extrusion control, fault detection and the adaptation of its vibration compensation algorithms to industrial robotics.

About SME

SME is a nonprofit association of professionals, educators and students committed to promoting and supporting the manufacturing industry. SME helps manufacturers innovate, grow and prosper by promoting manufacturing technology, developing a skilled workforce and connecting the manufacturing industry. SME supports manufacturing based on our core belief: Manufacturing is key to economic growth and prosperity.

About RAPID + TCT 2023

For more than 30 years, SME and RAPID have defined the crucial role of additive manufacturing and empowered the establishment of an industry that continues to conceive, test, improve, and manufacture new products at a faster, more cost-efficient pace. In 2017, the two industry leaders in 3D technology events, SME and The TCT Group, partnered to produce the annual RAPID + TCT event. For users and suppliers alike, the event is the premier destination for those who provide technology and for those who need to understand, explore and adopt 3D printing, additive manufacturing, 3D scanning, CAD/CAE metrology, and inspection technologies.

About Ulendo Technologies, Inc.

Founded in 2018 by Chinedum ‘Chi’ Okwudire, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ulendo is a software company spun out of the University of Michigan. The company’s first product, Ulendo VC (Vibration Compensation), uses an advanced set of algorithms to double the throughput of extrusion-based 3D printers by enabling them to operate at twice the speed without degrading the quality. The software is available for 3D printer manufacturers, 3D printing service bureaus and contract additive manufacturers. The company’s overall goal is to deliver a collection of revolutionary software products to the advanced manufacturing industry (i.e., 3D printers, industrial robots).
